PostSubject: The Dragoons   Sun Dec 06, 2009 10:00 pm

"May our old adversary live well, so that we may once again to battle." - Lucien the Bold

-History-
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The mountains bordering the Wastes, Occitan and Talibar have many, many dragons inhabiting them, some noble, some feral. They are also very powerful creatures and as a result, they are a danger to any imposing nature. In large numbers, they can lay waste to most anything in their path. Because of this, the citizens of The Wastes have banded together some of their finest warriors, mages, bards, diplomats and rangers together to form a guild with the sole purpose of confronting the Dragons.

And such is the birth of the Dragoons.

The Dragoons weren't all for slaying dragons, though. The guild was also constructed to reach diplomacy with dragons, and also to profit off them. Many of the dragons opened business with the Dragoons, other more hostile Dragons simply went into combat with them.

Soon enough, the guild attracted men and woman from all the land, some even coming from Sida. Each and every person who joined went for the purpose of making their land safe from dragons by any means necessary. The quickly growing size of the guild caused them to break off from The Wastes' nation and to become their own nationality up in the mountains.

-Warfare and ranks-
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The Dragoons are composed of two main sects. One is the military branch; the skilled warriors made for fighting the dragons, the other is the diplomacy branch, existing for nonviolent relations with the dragons.

The military has four ranks in total. Bear in mind that these ranks are not totally chronological.

- The Knights, who are the footmen and the soul of the Dragoons. Each Fighter has an incredible talent for team work, and make a force to be reckoned with in large numbers.

- The Commanders, who command the Knights in battle and are responsible for tactics, on and off the battlefield.

- The Heroes, who are more suited to solo adventuring, and work well alone or in small groups, instead of taking orders.

- The Sages, who are the head of the military branch. They are essentially the strongest of the Heroes and Commanders, but they are the true voice and strength of the Dragoon's military.

The Dragoon Soldier.

Lucien the Bold; one of the founding Dragoons, and a prime example of the Dragoon Sages.

Side note; Dorifium
Spoiler:

Dragoon weapons are fashioned from Dorifium (see above) and are assigned to each member. The military branch however gets first grabs on new weapons, and are normally assigned more well crafted weapons.

-Diplomacy-
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The other sect of the Dragoons is of course, the diplomatic branch. These are Dragoons that didn't join up to fight. Diplomatic Dragoons are, well, diplomats above all. They are also traders, bards, monks and the like. The Diplomatic branch also has scholars that study and teach magic, allowing any official Dragoon, even soldiers, to read up on magic, history, nations and whatnot.

Dragon Age RP GO.

That would be, the best RP. Ever.

And I'm half tempted to go nuts, and start it.
