I was thinking something like a clam. The pressure inside him forms gems after 100s of years.

Lol, the mental image is hilarious.

"Hmmmmm, I wonder if I have any gems growing inside me today!"

The creation of diamonds also requires HEAT, remember.

And, we once had a character who could--almost literally--crap out diamonds. Handing out diamond swords, diamond armor, diamond everything. Quite overpowered.

Ah, the ass-backlwards stupidity of some of the stuff of old olden.

You can't make diamonds from simple rocks and dirt. Diamonds are made of carbon. Pure carbon. And they require tremendous heat and pressure to make.

So pretty much he would have to eat coal then sit on it and create massive ammounts of heat.
Sounds easy enough to me!

No problem if he can use equivalent exchange correctly.

Yeah, of couse nothing so ridiculous as ' lel hai uwun haz 9001 dimon xd!! ! '

But i think something like an Earth elemental would have a fiery core as a heart anyway, and the pressure inside of him would be pretty large.

But i'd only be talkng something like every THOUSAND years. i.e. Only one produce and not in all that great a quantity.

But then again, it's just an idea.

From Wikiped, the ornlon oncorclopdodio,

Quote :
Carbon-containing minerals provide the carbon source, and the growth occurs over periods from 1 billion to 3.3 billion years (25% to 75% of the age of the Earth).

Quote :
The formation of natural diamond requires very specific conditions—exposure of carbon-bearing materials to high pressure, ranging approximately between 45 and 60 kilobars (4.5 and 6 GPa), but at a comparatively low temperature range between approximately 900–1300 °C.

One bar is...

100 kilopascals, AKA air pressure at sea level

Diamonds would form, it seems, at a minimum of 4,500 times the air pressure at sea level

And, if I'm correct, requiring..uh...a billion years. Probably wrong, but I've read elsewhere natural diamonds form over millions of years
