She wouldn't be a merc if she was chaotic evil. She'd be a murderer.

That made no sense.

Also, bump for any approval.

It made perfect sense. If you don't understand alignments, don't use them.

I understand them generally, it's not rocket science. Frankly I think everyone has a slightly different perspective on it but mne isn't completely different. Besides being a Freelance Merc isn't a career that needs a specific allignment. Not in my opinion.

Being "Chaotic Evil" isn't a very vague trait. It doesn't leave much room for grave mistakes for character developent or personality.

It does not need one, yes. But it shows your possible choice if you're doing a contract. Lets say a mercenary is Lawful Good, he would go down the more righteous path were someone of the Chaotic Evil path would not. There could be a situation where you spare or execute a captured prisoner, that's where it would show.

I like to view this more like the ME's Paragon/Renegade thing. Being fully Renegade in ME doesn't mean you kill everyone, burn everything and eat babies and puppies for breakfast, nor Paragon means that you fix all the universe's problems.

Also, this. I think, if you're of the Evil allignment, you'd end up killing anyone who hindered your progress and not really care that much of collateral damage, while Good would try to get the job done as clean as possible. Pretty rough examples, yeah, but you get the idea how I pictured it.

It's more of a question of estimated morality. Mass Effect is probably closest we can get to correct guestimate.

I think most agree that being 'Chaotic Evil' does not mean I can't be a merc.

Chaotic Evil people being more greedy, or violent, or less sociable, or less merciful, or any combination.

Lawful Good being the complete opposite, from total hero to just a normal vigilantee.

One could be obsessed only with one's self, and seek to tear down the views society puts up in their way by being a merc.

I don't see how an occupation can affect the way somebody is. Okay, i could see how, but my point is, somebody could be a cab driver, and a psychopathic maniac.

This is going on pat's explanation of alignments.

Quote :
Good, Evil, and Neutral usually correspond to who you care about--For Good, all people, altruism. Neutral people, your inner circle(I think.). Evil, yourself.

Lawful, Neutral, and Chaotic revolve around your views of the social norms of society, customs, and taboos. Lawful means you respect these. Neutral means that you believe that the social norms are only good when they benefit whoever you care about, be it Good, Neutral, or Evil. Chaotic means that you believe that these social norms interfere with your Good, Evil, or Neutral intentions, and should be abolished.

I notice you appear on character profiles only to pick holes and then to never conceed an accept should those wrongs be righted or you proven wrong.
